I just got this today and noticed these two small divets in the ceramic. It looks like the shelves poked thru the box and damaged the base during shipping. How big of a deal is this besides cosmetically?

It’s fine. If you speak to kamado joe they’ll send you some paint

Probably just manufacturing defects. Not a big deal, let them k ow and they will get you paint. It will not impact performance at all.

I had several spots like that on mine too when I got it. I contacted KJ support and they sent me some paint, but honestly I haven’t even bothered to use it. No problem, it is more likely a manufacturing defect and probably most of their grills will have a few of these marks.

It’s not significant enough to return/replace. Definitely send photos to customer service and they should hook you up with a touch up paint kit.
That cosmetic flaw won’t affect the integrity of the cooker.

Fine crack on and get cooking.

I’m kinda picky and wouldn’t be to thrilled with that. Given that it’ll be totally fine and will cook all the same. Touchup paint is the route to resolve it if it bothers you.

These photos are terrible. Also not seeing anything more than minor scratch

Contact Kamado joe, so they are aware of the issue.
paint it per their instructions.
This will save you the headache later if the enamel paint completely cracks down the line
